Abstract
Cellulite is a common cosmetic condition characterized by a dimpled and uneven skin appearance, mainly affecting the thighs, hips, abdomen, and buttocks. It develops due to fat accumulation beneath the skin, poor blood circulation, hormonal changes, and reduced skin elasticity. Although not medically harmful, cellulite can affect appearance and self-confidence.
The present study aimed to formulate and evaluate a herbal anti-cellulite lotion containing green tea extract as the main active ingredient. Green tea is rich in polyphenols and caffeine, which help improve blood circulation, reduce oxidative stress, and promote fat metabolism. The lotion was prepared by the emulsification method using suitable excipients such as emulsifiers, humectants, stabilizers, and preservatives to obtain a stable formulation.
The prepared lotion was evaluated for parameters including appearance, odor, pH, viscosity, homogeneity, spreadability, washability, irritancy, and stability. The formulation showed good physical appearance, smooth texture, acceptable pH, satisfactory spreadability, and no skin irritation. The study concluded that the herbal anti-cellulite lotion possesses promising cosmetic and pharmaceutical properties and may help reduce the appearance of cellulite with regular application.
